Chew Fu's RMX of "I Want You Back" by J5

Chew Fu has thrown out a real bangin' remix of the timeless J5 tune "I want you back". Its not really about explaining it, you just have to listen to it. It features typical electro synths over brief samples of the J5 classic. Sounds like a real good party song that will get people moving.

BMX

I stumbled across this track "Theme to BMX" on the great BIGSTEREO blog. The song instantly hit my new playlist. The song features 80's-esque synths (see Crystal Castles, Miami Horror, etc.) with some very catchy lyrics that actually make this song very danceable. I like the direction this new group took this 80s synth sound that was becoming popular and making it danceable without the aid of psychedelic drugs (see Crystal Castles again). According the blog the group is very very new and doesnt even have a myspace yet. I cant wait to hear some new stuff from these guys.

Surkin - Next of Kin

Surkin (Institubes/Paris, France) finally drops his second EP entitled "Next of Kin". For those in the know this track was featured on Justice's cancelled Fabric mix. Now it is out along with two other great tracks: White Knight Two - an upbeat track proving again that chopping up a melody and rearranging it always makes it more exciting (alla Daft Punk's "Face to Face") and Kid Gloves - which I find to be uninspired choppy electro. Personal preferences aside this is an EP worth picking up off of Itunes for the title track alone.

Weeds

After wasting 12 hours barraging through the first two seasons of weeds (roughly so after seeing some episodes twice), I have to say it is a great show. A drama/comedy that brings Friedrich Dürrenmat's style of writing to sitcom tv from my perspective. After reading Die Physiker and now going through Der Besuch des Alten Dame, I find myself clinging to this semi comedy/semi drama genre of film,tv, play, etc. The theme song is fabulous as well so here it is.

Crooks and Gunn Psych

The Vancouver duo of Crooks and Gunn have been known for their b-more beats type style. Their songs have been pretty catchy and good, but none caught my ear particularly. However their latest twist on Bernard Herrman's Psycho theme song has really been on the playlists the last couple of days. It features a drum beat that you would expect of Crooks and Guns along with chopped up screams and different variations of the theme song.
